Chelsea is located in the West Shore of Staten Island. It is a small neighborhood that was originally called Pralltown in honor of the family that was granted the land sometime in 1675. It was also named Peanutville during the revolutionary period when the area was used to store peanuts for those who travel through ferries from New York to New Brunswick.
