Bluetooth wirelessly links your mobile device to your Volvo Sensus multimedia system, enabling you to make hands-free calls, stream music, and do a variety of other things. Volvo Cars Manhattan can assist you by providing a step-by-step explanation on how to couple your mobile device with your new Volvo vehicle through Bluetooth.

Connecting Your Bluetooth Device

The infotainment system is available in two variants. Check for the presence of the connect button to determine which version is installed in your vehicle. If Sensus Connect is present, proceed to Sensus; otherwise, proceed to Sensus.

Sensus Connect:

  • TEL or MEDIA can be found on the center console.
  • On the center console, choose Make car discoverable by pressing OK/MENU.
  • On your phone or media player: Navigate to Bluetooth Settings and look for devices.
  • On your phone or media player: Choose a name for your automobile.
  • Check that the code displayed on your phone/media device matches the one displayed on the car's screen. Accept the code in both locations if this is the case.
  • On your smartphone: Accept or reject any options for its phone book and messages (only applies to some phone models).
  • The phone/media device has now been connected to your Volvo. If this technique fails, hit EXIT and then follow the instructions in Contact your Volvo dealer or pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth® device.

Sensus:

  • Turn on OK/MENU and Phone settings on the center console.
  • Select Discoverable from the center console and hit OK/MENU.
  • On your phone or media player: To finish the operation, choose My Volvo Car on the phone/media device and follow the steps.
  • In the external device, enter a code of your choosing.
  • Enter the same code into the vehicle's keypad on the center console and hit OK/MENU.
  • The phone/media device has now been connected to your Volvo. If this technique fails, hit EXIT and then follow the instructions in Contact your Volvo dealer or pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth device.

Please contact us to talk with a professional staff member about your Volvo Sensus system or how to sync your devices with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Important Things to Note

This technique only has to be done once. As long as Bluetooth is enabled, your Volvo will attempt to connect to your device automatically when it is within range of the system. If your phone's operating system is being updated, the connection between the phone and the automobile may be disrupted. If this occurs, remove the phone from the list of associated phones and proceed with the pairing technique specified in this article.
