Changing the Engine Oil in Your Volvo Car

Follow the below steps to change the engine oil in your Volvo car:

• Block the rear wheels of your car, put it into parking mode and apply the emergency brakes.
• Hoist your car up with the help of jack stands, ensuring it is secure before you start working underneath it.
• Pull the hood release under the dash to open the hood.
• Locate the oil filler cap on the engine, keeping in mind the oil grade listed on it.
• Remove the cap by twisting it anticlockwise. If there is a splash shield in place, remove it as well.
• Locate the drain plug and place a pan or pail below it.
• Remove the drain plug by turning it anticlockwise, allowing the oil to drain into the pan.
• Remove the oil filter with the help of pliers and install the new filter, applying a tiny amount of oil to it.
• Replace the copper ring on the oil drain plug and fit it back in place when all the oil has been drained.
• Add a suitable amount of oil to your engine through the oil filter hole. Take care not to overfill.
• Wait for a few minutes after filling up the engine to check the oil level. You can do this with a dipstick. If the oil level falls below the minimum mark on the dipstick, add more oil.
• Screw the oil filler cap back on.
• You are all done! You can check if the oil level and inspect for oil leaks in the next few days.
