The new Lexus NX 300 is a midsize crossover SUV that's gotten serious attention in the automotive industry. And it's easy to see why. The vehicle has all of the bells and whistles you'd expect from a luxury vehicle, plus some features we've never seen before. However, there are other vehicles out there on the market that are competing with Lexus for your money. Take, for example, the Volvo XC60: It's also got a lot going for it!
Design & Style
- Exterior DesignÂ
In terms of exterior design, the two vehicles are similar. They both have sleek lines that give them a sporty look and feel. Both cars also come in multiple colors; however, the XC60 offers more choices than its competitors.
The Lexus NX 300 has an aerodynamic shape with sharp lines and corners throughout its bodywork, making it stand out from other vehicles on the road today (or any other time). In contrast, while still being attractive in its own right--especially when compared with other SUVs--the Volvo XC60's boxier appearance makes it seem less modern than some competitors' designs might be perceived by consumers looking for something new or different when they purchase their next vehicle.
- Interior Design Â
The XC60's interior is spacious and comfortable. The seats are wide and supportive, with plenty of headroom for taller passengers in the back seat. The dashboard features a minimalist design that includes an LCD display screen in front of you and a touchscreen infotainment system on top of it. The seats are supportive and offer various adjustments to suit your needs. The Lexus NX 300 has similar features but lacks some comforts that make this Volvo so desirable.
Technology & Safety Â
The Volvo XC60 has some great safety features. It comes with a rear cross-traffic alert, which warns the driver when vehicles are approaching from the rear while backing out of a parking space or driveway. It also has automatic emergency braking that can detect pedestrians and other vehicles in front of you, as well as lane departure warning systems to help prevent accidents caused by distracted driving.
The Lexus NX 300 has many similar technologies to those found on the XC60, including lane departure warning and automatic braking systems. Still, it doesn't have any blind spot monitoring technology or adaptive cruise control as its competitor does.
Performance
The 2023 Volvo XC60 is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It can be paired with either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, depending on your preference.
The 2023 Lexus NX 300 features a standard 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine that delivers 235 hp and 258 lb.-ft. Torque-or 252 hp and 277 lb.-ft. if you opt for the optional AWD system (the only available option).
The Bottom Line  Â
The Volvo XC60 is the clear winner here. It offers more space, higher fuel economy, and better performance than the Lexus NX 300. The Volvo has a great cabin that's comfortable for all passengers, including those in back seats who only have a little legroom.
