The Volvo S90 T8 Recharge Ultimate delivers powerful, smooth acceleration and a comfortable ride.
Powertrain: The T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0-liter turbo- and supercharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque.
Acceleration: According to Volvo, the S90 Recharge can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
Ride and handling: The car prioritizes comfort over sportiness, providing a smooth ride, though some reviewers find the suspension a bit stiff. Steering is light and direct but lacks road feel.
Driving modes: The system offers several driving modes, including Pure (full electric), Hybrid (blends gas and electric), Power (maximum output), and Constant All-Wheel Drive.
Hybrid efficiency and range
The plug-in hybrid system allows for daily commuting on electric power alone.
Electric range: The EPA-estimated electric-only range is 38 miles.
MPG: When the battery is drained and the vehicle runs as a standard hybrid, it gets an EPA-estimated 29 MPG combined.
MPGe: The combined gas and electric rating is an EPA-estimated 66 MPGe.
Charging: A full charge takes approximately 5 hours on a 240-volt outlet and about 10 hours on a standard 120-volt household outlet.
